In the heart of the Hills of the Vaucluse, in Provence, facing the white range of the Alpilles and the beautiful perched village of Velleron, the Hostellerie la Grangette, backs on to its very own woodland of oak trees. Its features are those of a fine residence, typical of the Comtat area, and they are finely set off by both the green of the trees and the sunrays of Provence. Jean and Brigitte welcome you into this superb home with its quaint red wooden shutters, ensconced in a sea of green. The feeling here is of entering a residence where time seems to have stood still, surrounded by exquisite objects we take great pleasure in unearthing in the flea markets and antique shops of l'Isle sur la Sorgue. There are many places to relax in scattered around the residence, both indoors and outdoors, lounges and terraces, and you will be pampered by a couple for who the well-being of their guests is of the utmost importance. Brigitte will charm you with her light and sun-filled cooking skills, so typical of the Mediterranean region. It has taken a fabulous imagination and many efforts to reawaken to full life what had slumped into a dusty, sleepy building. The grain attics have been transformed into cosy bedrooms, which are true invitations to plunge into the ancient history of Provence. The rooms’ names alone seem to lure one into dreaming of bygone times – la Magnanarelle, l'Arlésienne... A surprising swimming pool with a pretty area made up of flat stones will entice you to a siesta under the mulberry trees or, for the more enterprising amongst you, into a dive into a true swimming basin. In the very nearby town of l'Isle sur la Sorgue you can enjoy wandering round, perusing the antique-stacked stalls, searching for the rare piece that you know is out there, waiting for you, or simply meander through its narrow streets. If you are looking to satisfy your curiosity about the local specialities and delicacies, why not let yourself be tempted by trails and circuit
