The “Fattoria” Residence of Catignano is situated about 8 km. from Siena – the city of art which is so important to the culture and history of Tuscany. It is also only 3 km. from the 408 road which from Siena leads you to Florence, passing first through Gaiole, Radda and Greve in Chianti. In the sienese Chianti where you will find our Residence, the landscape is characterised by the presence of numerous Farmhouses and Villas in which the sienese aristocracy traditionally spent their time ( between the Palio on the 2nd of July and that on the 16th of August ) on their own “ Villa holidays ” – vancanze in Villa – often inviting artists and lovers of the arts. Our “ italian garden” bears testimony to all this. The building, settled in the luscious green tuscan countryside, is framed by the “italian garden” and the so called “ bosco inglese”. Then between the olive groves you will find the “ viale dei cipressi” which leads the way to the swimmingpool, from where you can enjoy a beautiful view of Siena and its surroundings in the distance. Every apartment is furnished with its own well equipt kitchen (self catering apartments) Those who wish to stock up on food can find anything they desire in the groucers in San Giovanni (1 km.), Ponte a Bozzone (2 km.), Pianella (5 km.) and Coop (7km.), a supermarket on the outskirts of Siena. However, in the surrounding area – within a radius of 4-5 km. – you will find good and typical restaurants, which will be able to satisfy any needs of those who do not desire to cook.
