Hotel Gattapone is set in a magical position below the massive castle which dominates the historic town centre. It looks out over a lovely green valley, straddled by the astonishing medieval bridge which is one of the best known landmarks of Spoleto. The bridge is only a short stroll away. Named after the bridge's architect, the hotel has only 15 rooms. It consists of an old villa (where six standard rooms with bath or shower/wc, mini-bar and TV and two junior suites with bath/wc are located) and a modern extension with a further 7 delightful suites. All the bedrooms overlook the valley. Below the two congenial bar and lounge areas, steps lead down to a flowery patio and lawned terraces where you can relax among the vines as you enjoy the view. It is hard to believe that the centre of town is only a few minutes walk away. Rooms: 15 rooms (7 standard rooms and 8 junior suites) Every room has its own bathroom, hairdryer, a wonderful panorama, satellite TV, mini-bar, direct phone line, safe, air conditioning from June 15th to September 15th. General services: room service, baby-sitter, massage, pedicure, manicure, laundry, mail service, change, car rental, pets are allowed. Languages: English, French and German. Free time: Jogging track, Cycle racing. In the neighbourhood: tennis club, swimming pool, wellness centre, riding ground, tours and visits, bowling, fishing. Common areas: reading room, American Bar, garden, a vegetation-rich terrace, 40 people board room. Spoleto is one of the loveliest hill - top cities in Italy - and also the most cultural. As you wind your way through the maze of medieval streets you will suddenly find bold places of modern sculpture set against beautiful old churches and places. Art galleries and bookshops abound and a number of excellent restaurants cater for Spoleto's highly discerning visitors.
