This Modernist building was built in 1898 by the famous architect Emilio Salas y Cortés (a professor of Gaudí). The entry hall with the marble staircase leading to the first floor has been preserved from the main building. On the first floor you will find impressive mahogany doors from Cuba and the original moulded ceiling and dome. Along the building's main staircase, the wrought iron handrail has been preserved and the original paintings restored. The Hotel Catalonia Duques de Bergara**** is located in the heart of the city of Barcelona, very near to Plaza Catalunya, Paseo de Gracia and Las Ramblas, and a few steps away from the Gothic quarter.
